The NEW Whistler Dental is officially open! A big thank-you to everyone who joined us for our grand opening celebration on December 5th (and to those of you who have come by since to check out the new facility). The Grand Opening event was a fun evening where clients, industry professionals, business partners, friends and family stopped by for an evening of food, wine and beautiful music by Rachel Thom. If you missed out on the event please stop by and check us out- here are some pictures of the evening…
In case you missed it, Whistler Dental will now be proudly offering specialized dental services right here in the Sea to Sky. Until now patients in Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish have had to travel to Vancouver for many of these specialized services. Here is an overview of the new services we will be offering right here in Whistler.
Periodontics is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. More specifically, periodontists specialize in the treatment of gum disease and the placement of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease and are informed of the latest and most innovative techniques, using a range of surgical procedures. Here at Whistler Dental we are delighted to have a periodontist on board to diagnose and treat patients with early signs of gum disease and those with moderate and advanced cases too.
Looking for a beautiful healthy smile? Orthodontics is the practice of diagnosing, preventing and treating dental and facial irregularities. There are countless benefits of orthodontics with some being the boosting of one’s personal self image due to a healthy and beautiful smile, and alleviating or preventing pain and health problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and digestive difficulties. Through orthodontics, Invisalign and Smile Design we help patients create perfect smiles that they can be proud of.
Endodontics looks inside the tooth to the soft inner tissue of the teeth, often called the pulp. Endodontists specialize in maintaining a person’s natural smile by saving diseased or decayed teeth using root canal therapy which is 95% effective. If endodontists had a super power it would be saving teeth, they are able to do this because of their specialized diagnostic training and treatments. Endodontists typically diagnose tooth pain and perform root canals, and have specialized training in this field above and beyond dentists.
Pedodontics is also referred to as pediatric dentistry, or dentistry for children. This specialized field focuses on an array of dental conditions that affect children and youth including fillings, extractions and preventative oral treatments. Pediatric dentists have specialized training to care for a child’s teeth, gums and mouth at various stages in their lives. Pediatric dentists have experience working with infants, children, teens and children with special needs and are highly trained to diagnose and treat routine and complex conditions and provide specialized oral care including: Infant oral health exams, habit counseling, early assessment and treatment of straightening teeth, diagnosis of oral conditions, management of gum disease and care for dental injuries.
At Whistler Dental’s sleep clinic we assess sleep disorder breathing which can lead to serious medical conditions if left untreated. Snoring, sleep apnea and teeth grinding (Bruxism) are common sleep disorders that our team at Whistler Dental are specifically trained to treat. Those with symptoms of poor sleep including daytime sleepiness, headache and jaw soreness, dozing easily and anxiety with breathlessness may have underlying sleep disorders contributing to these symptoms.
Whistler Dental now offers Oral Surgery with IV sedation to our dental clinic here in Whistler. Patients can now enjoy the comfort and convenience of one location from the diagnoses, to the treatment and recovery of their surgical procedure. Dr. Mckenzie is highly trained in oral surgery and regularly performs many surgical procedures. These surgeries include but are not limited to root canals, wisdom tooth extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, crown lengthening and more. Patients undergoing oral surgery at Whistler Dental are ensured top notch and personalized service from start to finish.
